Container Gardening
Container gardening with native plants is much easier to create and manage than a full sized garden.
If you are new to gardening or have limited space, native plants in pots are a gateway to ecological friendly gardening practices on a larger scale. Native plants can attract pollinators even in a container on your porch or patio. Bring the butterflies and hummingbirds to you, while also bridging a gap in the ‘wildlife corridor’ to green spaces in your area. Gardening for wildlife and designing landscapes that mimic nature are being embraced in urban spaces, and you can do this on a budget with little time invested in creating a container.
If the container has become overgrown, or needs tending to, please reach out and we will send someone to update the container or if you are moving on from the container, we can remove the plants and gift them to a local nonprofit organization. One caution: never dig up plants from the wild. Grow them from seed or buy plants from a reputable nursery.
Steps to consider:
- Choose Your Container
We can provide a basic container ( using recycled materials) or we can fill one that you already have. The size of the container needs to reflect the plant species chosen. In general, native plants need larger, deeper pots than the typical annuals you might normally use. They often have larger root systems. For shrubs, choose 24 inch (61 cm) or larger containers. - Light and Water Conditions
We provide native plants for shaded or sunny spots.
